CMS consulting and operational inspections
My contribution
Two inspections and focused support with CMS operating questions.
01 / Work scope
Focused support for the bank’s CMS operations.
I provided infrastructure consulting for Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank through Thoughtworks in 2023. I carried out two system inspections and helped the team look into two specific issues with its Drupal CMS environment.
02 / Operational inspections
Connecting application health with its dependencies.
The inspection checklist organised the review around application behaviour, host health and routine operations. It provided a structure for checking the CMS and recording observations across the services it depended on.
- Application
- Page accessibility, navigation, application logs and middleware errors.
- Infrastructure
- CPU, memory, storage, connectivity, running processes and service ports.
- Routine operations
- Backup jobs, their logs and generated files, together with system and security logs.
03 / CMS guidance
Explaining the operating choices behind a symptom.
My written advice addressed the bank’s Drupal operating questions, including slow responses after cache clearing, synchronisation traffic and upgrade compatibility. The reasoning connected application behaviour with host load and dependencies: identify the source of traffic before changing synchronisation, and consider page response and recovery needs together.
I also prepared operations training material explaining the CMS architecture, environment preparation, image transfer between isolated environments, runtime configuration and deployment checks. The material set out the procedures and dependencies for the people maintaining the system.
